The meeting was called to order by Anita Singleton, president, at 6 p.m., April 15, 2004, at Club 1201. The first item on the agenda was approval of the past minutes — none were available at this time.

Old Business:

A. New officers took office:

  • Anita Singleton, president
  • Steve Evans, vice-president
  • Susan Pumphrey, secretary
  • Frank Tisdale, treasurer

B. Dues for 2004-2005 are now being collected at $20 per year. Students will pay $10 per year. Dues paid will include all mailings and the annual directory. Please include current address and e-mail with dues. Checks should be made payable to 4 State APN or Frank Tisdale, treasurer. Dues should be mailed to Frank Tisdale.

C. Position of executive assistant — an individual available to help officers. Mary Metsker has agreed to act as such for $250 per year. This will include mailings for the four quarterly meetings and the yearly directory. This does not include the annual seminar — additional cost would be determined by Mary based on time involved. Motion made to accept position and salary, seconded and passed unanimously.

D. Annual Seminar — seminar for 2004 failed to materialized. Unanimous interest expressed by group for a February 2005 seminar. Discussion includes need for program committee to be formed now. Call for program committee volunteers to contact Steve Evans. Motion made to sponsor annual seminar seconded, passed unanimously.

New Business:

A. Bylaws were amended to state “Advanced Practice Nurses” and delete term limits. Motion was made to accept bylaws with proposed changes. This was seconded, passed unanimously.

B. 4 State APN website need was presented. Discussion included types: static vs. content management. Lynn Meredith presented one proposal to the group from Intruos website construction and maintenance. Static site is $800 with update fees professional programmer $70 per hour or content management site — one-time fee of $1,500 with free tech support. Also, $25 per month hosting and e-mail fee and $25 per year for name.

Discussion included desire for enhanced, professional communication, understanding and acceptance of large, front-end investment and desire for content management site that could be managed by our group. It was proposed a motion be made to pursue a content management website for 4 State APN group and a committee be formed and empowered to make the decision and get it going before the July meeting. Committee will continue research and obtain bids not to exceed the $1,500 base bad. Committee members are: Jane Bycroft, Jackie Burr, Frank Tisdale and Susan Pumphrey. Motion made, seconded and passed unanimously.

Announcements:

A. Frank Tisdale received nomination for state representative to the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Reminder to members that as an approved or recognized local chapter of AANP, we are qualified for discounted dues in the national organization and the group number is 0111051.

B. AANP annual meeting is in June 11-16, 2004, in New Orleans.

C. Next 4 State APN meetings: July 15 and Oct. 21, 2004, Jan. 20, 2005. Meetings start at 6 p.m. Plan for the July meeting — picnic with panel of drugs reps on how to access discount or free medication programs for patients.
